Animal Cruelty typically refers to an intentional act or an act of neglect that results in harm to an animal. While legal consequences may vary, animal cruelty is a serious crime with serious consequences. This course educates the offender on how to recognize animal cruelty and how these cruel actions can affect the animal, the community and the offender. While these topics are briefly covered in the Tier 1 course, the Tier 2 version includes extra focus on: abandonment, leaving a pet in a hot car, pet hoarding and dogfighting. It also goes more in depth on the link between animal cruelty and human violence.
